Weighing in at 6.25 pounds…

We are all celebrating birthday eve.  The youngest in the family will be celebrating a milestone birthday this weekend and to honor this birthday properly we let her select how she wants to celebrate.  Her decision…  tickets to the Abby Lee Dance Studio Once in a Lifetime recital performance.  The catch in making her dream come true was figuring out travel plans to Pittsburg.  But the plans and are in place, the recital tickets are purchased and the small suitcases are packed (even Missy’s).

If only I could share the recipe for this decant tower of a cake which I purchased.  I do have one favorite cake recipe which I am capable of making.  This recipe was a gift from a dear friend, Gaylaine Harvey and this cake has been a family favorite for years.

Chocolate Chip Cake Recipe

1 box yellow cake mix

1 package vanilla instant pudding

4 eggs

1 cup vegetable oil

1 cup milk

6 oz. chocolate chips (semi-sweet chips work best)

1 shaved Baker’s German Chocolate bar

  1. Combine all ingredients except chocolate chips and german chocolate.  Beat until smooth. Stir in chocolate chips and German chocolate. Pour batter into prepared bunt pan.
  2. Bake for 45 to an hour. Allow to cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Big excitement this evening as the girls and I followed this little critter around our potted plants and gate after sunset.  His beautiful lime-colored texture, perfect webbed feet and vast jump span had us completely captivated.  I love moments like this when I see a glimpse of their childhood wonder still intact.   With one giant leap (probably for freedom), the tree frog ended up planting himself directly on Elleri’s stomach and the fabric of her shirt.  His final leap propelled him through the gate and off to the rocks under the deck and out of our reach and sight.

Climb aboard.
