The countdown is on… you are likely in a flurry making everything merry and bright (and meaningful). My Christmas wish for you? Comfort and joy, of course.
I also wish I could deliver to your doorstep my latest batch of peppermint lip balm. I have been experimenting with a recipe and I just might have discovered a life-changing formula. Literally. If you switch from a lip balm that lists petroleum as the number one ingredient, this recipe may change your life for real!
- 2 T. beeswax pellets
- 2 T. coconut oil
- 2 T. raw shea butter
- 22 drops peppermint essential oil (or the oil of your choice, I think peppermint works the best because it has a soothing effect)
Use a double boiler to heat the first three ingredients. Once melted, add the essential oil drops, stir and quickly fill your containers. Use a small funnel to transition the liquid balm into the tubes!
I also whipped up a batch of peppermint stress-away play dough.
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cups colored water with food coloring – create a clever stress away shade for your dough
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1T. olive oil or coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 10 drops essential oils
Combine all the ingredients (with the exception of the essential oil) in a large saucepan and stir until combined. Once combined, put the saucepan on medium heat and stir with a spatula until the ingredients form a ball. Remove from heat and set it on parchment paper to cool for a few minutes. Add 10+ drops of essential oil (I used peppermint) and knead the dough. The kneading dissolves stress. Store in an air tight plastic containers.

May the spirit of Christmas find its way into your heart.
