“May angels lead you in.
Hear you me my friends.”
Focusing my energy on preparing for the weekend marathon! Race day is Sunday, October 7 and the 18-week training plan culminates with 26.2 miles. Today I started to pack items for my race morning back pack including a Sharpie to write inspiring words on the back of my hand. I started to load an iPod with music in case I need the distraction of tunes during the double-digit miles. My favorite song appears at the end of this post. I am also reaching out to those who have supported my personal fundraising goal expressing my gratitude.
There is still time to donate!
Just in case you would like to support my fundraising goal, click over here to make a contribution: Team Ann’s Hope – Home. Once you arrive at the website, click on “sponsor a participant” and enter my name (Debbie Schaefer). Every dollar will support melanoma research initiatives and educational efforts.
Did you know one person dies every hour as a result of melanoma?
Did you know melanoma is the most common form of cancer for young adults ages 25-29?
We are running to move one step closer to finding hope for those diagnosed with melanoma.
I am excited to run with purpose and witness members of our team cross the finish line, some for the very first time! Team Ann’s Hope is a dedicated and inspired group.

I made this angel wing ankle bracelet back in June. I have worn it on every day since and that means it has been with me on every long run. The string is frayed and tattered but remains a steadfast symbol to me. You see, I believe the melanoma angels will lead Team Ann’s Hope to the finish.
