deb schaefer january sunrise“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”

Hello and welcome to 2018!  I hope this new rotation around the sun feels full of possibility.  I selected my one little word that will serve as my beacon of inspiration this year.  You may have heard about my belief in the power of one tiny little word* and the practice of inviting it into your life over the span of a year.  It sounds so simple.  Perhaps it sounds like embracing your inner sloth?  This is my ninth year (and ninth word) and I still find astonishing power in this practice.

I honored my first word (breathe) in 2010 and I will always adore the word breathe and those that followed:  capture, create, shine, intention, joygratitude and sacred

I selected….. focus as my guiding light for 2018.

Where and how will this word serve as a centerpiece of 2018?   I am not sure.  But here are a few intentions:  I am going to focus on connecting more with the people in my life versus my devices and distractions. I am focusing on healthy habits to fuel life and my passion projects.  I am focusing my camera every day and documenting 2018 in the grounding practice of noticing everyday miracles.  I share photos daily on my Instagram account @Type_Mantra and weekly photos @OrdinaryCreative.

My wish for you?

I hope one tiny word weaves its way into your heart and you adopt it for 2018.

Embrace and live with your one little word and see where it takes you.

Maybe if we trust our soul whispers and follow where they lead, we will find our divine gifts.

I would love, love, love to hear your word in the comments below!
