Gratitude: my word of the day.

I am grateful for InStep Physical Therapy & Running Center for planning today’s long run in preparation for the fall marathon.  The Delafield branch of InStep planned an awesome route (many lake side miles) and set up two aid stations stocked with everything a runner might want:  ice-cold water bottles, Gatorade, bananas, energy snacks and even gum!

Someone once said, “We pace ourselves according to who we run beside.” Any experienced marathoner will attest to that. To run alongside someone of the same goal and purpose simply energizes you.  Today I am most grateful for the friendships and connections with those we run beside.  It’s an amazing gift – the conversations that ensue when you are simply in the moment and rhythm of a long run.   The depth of conversation today was so insightful and meaningful that it overshadowed any pain along the route.  We shared joy and solved problems.

I am grateful for the blossoming friendships on this journey.

I am also grateful to everyone involved in Les Misérables at the Kettle Moraine High School.  Tonight the show wraps its magical run. It is ironic that a story full of 19th century misery has brought so much joy to everyone touched by the play.  Congratulations to everyone involved.

I dreamed a dream in times gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die.
