“I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.

I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.

I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.”

~Groucho Marx

We have been productive little yard workers.  Ok, let me re-phrase that…  I have been slugging through endless leaf raking, mulch-spreading and weed-pulling.  I am not one of those people who find joy in dirt.  I don’t have a fondness for rakes or yard tools.  I love hard work; just not yard work.  There I said it.

As I whined about the endless stretch of work ahead, my wise daughter reminded me I get to choose how this goes down.  She successfully twisted my advice, returning it with a grin.  It felt like a minor bee sting but flipped my switch from whining to wonder.

Since we moved to this house last fall we haven’t seen what spring looks like here.  So technically it’s not yard work, it’s a treasure hunt.

Baby bunnies...

Bursts of blooms.

Dancing tulips.

A brave explorer!

With a couple of days before Mother’s Day I wanted to share an easy gift idea!  Here is what you will need…

Specifically: four beloved photos (I used actual printed photos for this project), four travertine tiles (these were a Home Depot purchase), 16 self-adhesive felt circles (four for each tile base),  Mod Podge and a sponge brush.

Trim each photo to fit within the square space of the tile and attach the image to the tile with Mod Podge.

Add a layer of Mod Podge over the top of the photo with the sponge brush. Let dry and apply another coat.   Apply a third coat and eat a cookie while you wait for it to dry.

Once dry attach the felt circles to the base and marvel at your creative gift!
