I have often wondered what is the magical ingredient about travel that enables time to feel suspended and one’s senses to amplify.  Does this unfold when you when you step away from your normal ordinary everyday and arrive in a new place?

All my senses were firing exponentially during a recent visit to Italy.  I attempted to be intentional about acknowledging my awakening senses:  to tune in and savor the experience.  It all started with the clever key we were given for our hotel room in Milan.  My sense of touch ignited the journey.  milan room keydoor handles italy ordinary creative

The feel of cobblestone underfoot, exquisite tile everywhere and the incline of Lake Como’s mountains officially captured my heart.  I am moving to Bellagio. IMG_8016

Just kidding.  I am not moving; but I am dreaming of a reason to return.

Taking in the sight of Italy’s architecture and artistic genius left me speechless.

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is one of the world’s oldest shopping malls. It was designed in 1861 and built by Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877.

Duoma Milan

The Duomo in Milan is an awe-inspiring experience.  Have you visited?  It is a vision of architectural majesty: a contrast of delicate details and an impossibly enormous presence.

Lake Como Ordinary Creative visit

I would love to hear from you if you have visited Italy… If not, I hope you are inspired to make your way there someday soon!   I promise your senses will come alive and your internal landscape will be shifted forever. Grateful for the gift of venturing into new landscapes (even stepping outside our ordinary radius when we are home).  No matter where we go, I believe an exquisite and promising landscape awaits.  My song suggestion to accompany your travel dreams: “Clear” by NeedToBreathe.
